Shichi-go-san (seven-five-three): A rite of passage celebration. November 15, chosen as the most auspicious day according to the traditional Japanese calendar, is the day that 3 and 7 year old girls, and generally only 5 year old boys are dressed up and taken to the Shinto shrine.
